WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH SOCIAL MEDIA

😵‍💫 After a very tumultuous start to the year, Tiktok is back in the app stores and seems to be safe from a ban (for now? at least?).

🐦 In the meantime, Bluesky has been trying to do video (sort of).

🌥️ Speaking of Bluesky, I was intrigued by this article by Renee DiResta on “The Great Social Media Decentralization.”

📜 And speaking of decentralization… how do we feel about these timeline apps?

✈️ Google isn’t really social media, but I still think it’s worth noticing that their new AI policy has removed the pledge not to use AI for weapons or surveillance.

🚦 Once again not social media, but as a fan of quitting things and questioning convenience, I was intrigued by this article on quitting Doordash & Uber Eats.

📩 Oh and LinkedIn has been accused of using private messages to train AI.
